I'm a freelance writer and editor and just got hired at Pacific Interpreters as a proposal and marketing writer. I relocated to Portland from Orlando, FL where I worked in MarCom, corporate communications, and technical writing for Lockheed Martin. In Orlando I also served as a founding member of a novel writers' critique group and am now an organizer for a similar group here in Portland. I run a creative writing blog called 50 Words a Day.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in both English and Spanish from the University of Florida. While there I completed my creative thesis, which focuses on the 11M bombings in Madrid. My work can be found in various print and web publications, including the Orlando Sentinel, The Mangrove, and Boating Life magazine.
Proposal and marketing writing.
In this position, I worked closely with program directors to coordinate interdepartmental communications through newsletters, SharePoints, and meetings. I also researched, wrote, and edited external press releases as well as multiple articles for internal, external, and international publications. Working closely with my communications team, I produced marketing materials, technical documents, and proposals.
The position was fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring strong organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to work independently.
This was a project basis position for a small flying community. Initially I wrote and designed marketing hand-outs for them to use at exhibits. Then I created and launched their company website, which can be found at www.grassrootsairpark.com.
