TOP IDEA: Mike Ambassador Bruny Part of my leadership program involves reading books. The last book we read was "Tribes" by Seth Godin. I really like what this guy has to say and have been inspired to lead a Seth Godin Book Club starting Jan. 2011. We will read and discuss one of his books a month for the duration of the year. I wanted to send the first invitation to my Brazen Family to both join and help shape what it will look like. You in?

TOP IDEA: La Donna Lokey I believe that to find happiness, you've got to cultivate a healthy work/life balance, including at least one KILLER hobby or obsession off the clock. Maybe you were the hackey-sack champion of your dorm, once trained to be a cartoonist, or secretly want to be Cake Boss. Now's the time to tell the world: what are your MAD SKILLS?

Amy Ng Citi joined Hands On Network as a sponsor and aligned its 5th annual Global Community Day with Make A Difference Day across the country on Saturday, October 23rd. Around the world, Citi will engage an extraordinary 45,000 of its employees who will volunteer in 945 projects across 77 countries. I enjoy volunteering at the local food bank and at a shelter for women and children. Do you find time to support your local community? If so, what do you do to give back to those in need?

Vickie Elmer Greetings all, I'm developing a series of job search tips for teens, as an offshoot of my business, which hires a handful of teens in the summer and supports youth and educational charities. (It's called Mity Nice, and we sell Italian ice and other vegan "sweet treats from the streets.") What's the best piece of advice you'd give a 16- or 17-year-old who wants a summer job in a company? And what's the biggest mistake a teen can make in seeking a job? Would love to hear your best suggestions.

Ryan Paugh Are you making some time during the 4th of July weekend to relax? Catch up with family and friends? Not work? The 4th is always that time during the summer when I realize that I've been moving too fast and I need to slow down. Go outside and enjoy yourself this weekend. Hang out with the people that are important to you. The work will still be there next week. Happy 4th of July!

La Donna Lokey If you asked me 10 years ago, I would have never considered a career in financial services because I had a (mis) perception that the culture would be too conservative or stuffy. I've been very pleased to find that's not the case in many organizations. Jobseekers: What are your initial impressions about working in a financial services company? What are your expectations about the company culture?

I learned about sales, customer service, credit and management. In my time here at the bank I have had 8 different jobs in 11 years without having to change companies. Also, I have been able to learn and grow as a banker, but leverage that experience and apply it to different areas like Human Resources and Marketing. Strong performers have great opportunities at a large bank, as long as you are patient and can execute.

Penelope Trunk So, I've been thinking after the webinar with Seth Godin today. I've been thinking about how he told everyone they have to be in a dip. They have to be trying to do something hard. And I have this cynical hunch that most people are not doing this. They have ideas about doing it but they're not doing it. Do you guys think I'm cynical or on target?

I think Americans often look for the easy way. But doing hard things builds character. In fact, a couple of teens, Alex and Brett Harris, started a blog called the Rebelution a few years ago to challenge their generation to "do hard things" as an antedote to the low expectations being placed on teens today. They are making a difference and there are more teens that believe in themselves and are "doing hard things." Check it out at http://www.therebelution.com/blog/.

My great-grandfather was an immigrant coal miner, I think he would find this "dip" notion funny.

So really, what do you want to do?, after you have your comforts and necessities taken care of? The sky is the limit...

I think people have gotten good at enjoying the status quo, and are scared of long term hard work to achieve something. Just look at 4 year degree graduation trends in the past X number of years...
