I work for UW-Madison's largest study abroad office on campus. We have over 160 programs in over 50 countries, and it's my job to convince students to make their aspirations to see the world a reality. I talk to different language classes and student organizations about our programs, and also market info sessions to the student body.
Designed company Web site and redesigned a client's Web site. Responsibilities were creating wireframes for sites, generating and updating site content, and creating and maintaining the client blog. Other daily duties included running errands, generating press releases, and maintaining the office while the company transitioned between office managers.
Assisted the director and manager of public relations at the AACD in their daily duties. This included writing and editing copy for the company newsletter (The Academy Connection) and magazine (The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry), developing the AACD's social media presence and generating content for the weekly eUpdate that goes to Academy members.
I created the AACD's Twitter (Twitter.com/TheAACD) June 25 and in a month's time, increased the company's brand awareness by achieving 222 followers.
Assisted University Housing residents in the Housing computer labs. Some of my duties include laptop checkout, general software knowledge and creating QuickTips to acclimate students with on-campus resources and frequently-used software.
Semester internship with the academic affairs committee of UW-Madison's student government. Semester project dealt with employee benefits, then took a more concentrated look at domestic partner health care benefits, and the fact they are not provided to university or state employees.
Formed the Wisconsin Coalition for Domestic Partner Benefits with two other students and an alumnus in December 2008. Planned and held a Day of Action on March 25, 2009. All in the UW community were encouraged to contact their legislators in support of domestic partner health care coverage remaining in the budget. Resulted in approximately 200 people from the UW System contacting their legislators in support of domestic partner benefits.
On June 29, 2009, domestic partner health insurance benefits for Wisconsin state employees were approved in the 2009-2011 Wisconsin state budget.
Customer service-based position. Duties included product knowledge of a large inventory, assisting with annual inventory, receiving and organizing shipments and maintaining a presentable retail space.
Took classes in La Facultad de Letras Generales (College of Letters) while studying abroad in Lima during fall 2009.
