I have 22 years of experience in interactive media, publishing, and education marketing. I started my career by working on the Great Books at Encyclopaedia Britannica, and I quickly moved over to an editorial management role in the development of some of the earliest CD-ROM products under the company's Compton's brand. This role was a launching pad for a move into digital media, which put me at the center of the company's transition to the web, which began in 1993. I eventually rose to Director of Product Development at Britannica.
Since 2000, I have been working mostly in the marketing of online education, starting with an Internet marketing role at UNext, parent company of Cardean University, one of the first creators of a fully online MBA in conjunction with top business schools. In 2005, I took on management of the educational directories business of Monster.com, which I grew from almost nothing to $13M in annual revenue. In 2007, I left Monster to become Chief Marketing Officer of the University of Illinois Global Campus, a division of the U of I focused on online delivery of education programs in partnership with the university's residential campuses.
In 2010, I left the U of I to start Edify Marketing, an education marketing solutions company. Edify builds degree portals with a very straightforward strategy: quality education leads come from sites with quality traffic, and quality traffic is driven organically. For this reason, Edify focuses on content-driven sites to achieve strong SEO. Edify's first site, midPointers, was launched in late May 2010 and focuses on career change advice for mid-career professionals looking to transition jobs or advance in their current ones. My proudest accomplishments? My three kids: Jeremy, Eva, and Julia!
