About Me

I am a professional communicator employed in higher education marketing and public relations. I support and promote the mission and goals of the university by communicating to a diverse audience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, media, and the community. As a media specialist, I write and edit publication material, update the campus news blog, handle media requests, and maintain the university’s social media presence.

With an undergraduate degree in communication and a graduate degree in rhetoric and writing, I am well educated in the principles of effective communication, media management, and rhetorical theory. A strong background in communication research and theory matched with practical experience and technical skill provides me with the understanding to effectively analyze problems, find solutions, and deliver results.

I also teach the next generation of leaders and thinkers to communicate with themselves, each other, and the world at a local university. I am responsible for managing an introductory rhetoric and composition course, including planning lessons, delivering lectures, creating assignments, facilitating discussions, and providing feedback on student work. I am dedicated to a critical pedagogy of challenging and inspiring my students while simultaneously growing their skills and confidence.

In my seven years of experience in marketing, journalism, public relations, and corporate communications, I have honed my written and oral communication skills. I have written print articles, web copy, news stories, features pieces, press releases, blog posts, and promotional content for a variety of mediums and audiences. My work has been published in university newspapers, popular websites, and regional magazines. I have worked for an ambitious start-up company as well as for established, well-respected companies. I thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Building a career that I am proud of and adds value to others is my goal.
