I am a born and raised Jersey girl in a town referred to as "the slice" however I broke out of the "shelter" in college & attended nursing school in PA in somewhat of a high crime area. I studied hard and focused on emergency trauma in an area that had plenty of it. Terrified at first, I gained some city smarts and was able to stay in my skin whenever I heard a gun shot from down the block. And on top of that I learned to pump my own gas & somehow live without good pizza and bagels for a while. Now I am graduated and am focusing on passing my boards and the rest is in slow motion til then.
Although the business of healthcare is somewhat in its own class from the RN point of view, but much of what is discussed in the corporate world I think still applies to healthcare with a slight skew. Everyone could benefit from communication and expanding their knowledge outside of what the day-to-day entails. I know team brazen well and show full support for what they are doing for the up-and-coming generation.
