Ryan Paugh I'll be working a little bit this weekend. What rules do you set up for yourself when working on the weekend? We all have to do it sometimes. How do you balance work with other weekend priorities, like spending time with family and friends? Where do you draw the line?

I've been working full-time for a long time, and always had something else going on (undergrad, law school, and many jobs I've been salaried and thus free to work as many hours as I like). A designated physical space works best for me: go into the office, your "office space" at home, a local cafe or the library, etc. Everyone needs to be clear that I'm working; for me at home, this means saying repeatedly, "Not now honey, Mommy is working," to my toddler, who will actually go away for a while and do something else, and sometimes helps by telling other people, "Not now, Mommy is working." :)

If I want to spend time with work for my boss on the weekend it has to be because I want to. This hardly ever happens, because I also run a blog and write for a website in my free time. When it comes to making sure it doesn't interfere with other activities and just being lazy, I agree with Erin and Amy. Put your private/leazure activities first.

Ryan Paugh I rarely eat breakfast. I'm just not hungry first thing in the morning. Not too mention, as soon as I wake up I'm already running out the door. I'm realizing that this habit poorly affects my brain power at work. Any suggestions for what I can do?

I feel bad for your friend. I really hope that she doesn't give up on her passion because of what happened with her employer. My advice to her was to put some thought into her professional online presence. What shows up on the first page of a Google search doesn't have to be her sex blog. It could be her LinkedIn account, a Twitter account or a professional blog that uses her real name. In other words, be proactive about what employers might find. What do you think?

Penelope Trunk I have been seeing lots of press recently about how job hoppers are bad. Mostly, I think these people are delusional because everyone is job hopping so it's a moot point whether it is good or bad. (But also, i really think it's good for everyone.) That said, I wonder, what tactics do you guys use when an employer challenges the number of jobs you've had? What works?

Lance Sales process question: Our staff attends one event per week and they come back to the office with loads of business cards from prospects. They're only in the office 1-2 days then it's off to another event. While in office, they're so slammed with other tasks that there's no good handoff of the business cards to the sales team. Prospects cool off in the meantime or sales team doesn't get the lead at all. Does anyone have a good system for handling this?

Rebecca Thorman I work for a start-up where the dress code is very casual. I'm usually the most dressed up, just because I like to. For instance, if you wear a pant suit and nice blouse and then realize your clients are more casual, you can always take off your suit jacket to become more casual. On the flip side, it's harder to dress "up" a polo shirt and jeans if you find out your clients are more traditional.

If that means downplaying characteristics that may inadvertently hurt your chances of gaining a “dream job”, so be it. Change can happen, but it occurs from the inside and that’s hard to do if your name hurts your chance of even getting in. @Kim I think you are bringing an honest perspective to this question. Thanks for the articles. Gen Y’s view on the race issue is a grave improvement then previous generations but the world we live in is not solely Gen Y. Institutional racism still exists and at the end of the day in order to have a chance at success you must know the rules of engagement; which might be being Roger instead of Rahj. @ Sean That is the world we are striving to live in.

Candice Reed I have struggled to fit in for so long. I talk 2 much. I talk w/the guys, not the girls. I was fired. I quit. I never had a savings account until now, but we still went to Paris and Amsterdam and Rome? Why? Cuz dad died at 59, 2 weeks before mom retired.
