I'm an overachiever science nerd turned disgruntled college dropout turned disgruntled college graduate turned happy but broke farm worker turned online community manager.
I found Brazen Careerist through Penelope Trunk's blog.
I'm an INTJ.
And that's the story of .02% of my life!
Whatever it takes to help make wikiHow the most comprehensive how-to manual ever created by the friendliest, most awesome Internet community ever. And yes, I really did come up with that by myself, and yes, I really do mean it. In the beginning that entailed being an editor, preparing articles for featuring and doing whatever the volunteer community didn't, but still needed to be done. In June of 2010 I transitioned into providing community support (unofficial self-proclaimed job title: community BFF).
Doing whatever the farmer tells me to do without complaining. Getting a hell of a farmer's tan. Learning how hard it really is to run a profitable small farm.
Discovering how quirky and temperamental architects can be, and that I don't want to be one.
Soul searching via books and an employee discount. Realizing that in retail, the harder you work, the harder they want you to work. Observing that I was working with people who had graduated from Ivy League schools and were serving coffee. Getting excited about going back to school because green architecture is really, really cool.
Discovering how unhappy and cranky most doctors and lawyers are, and that I don't want to be one.
I went back to school thinking I wanted to be a green architect. I left thinking I wanted to be a farmer. And I picked up some GIS skills along the way, which are probably totally outdated now.
I left this school because my financial aid package got cut and I didn't want to go $45k into debt for a degree I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to use. Plus, I had a 4.0 GPA and didn't feel any smarter or wiser so I started to question whether being an overachiever was worth it.
Catholic school is an excellent place to discover that you're a freethinker.
