I'm a graduate student in library school, interested in applying the spirit of entrepreneurship to information education in K-12 schools. I'm especially interested in creating partnerships between different types of libraries and in using game-based learning to help students meet national education standards.
- Present at educators’ conferences on topics such as leadership, professional development, and effective use of media and technology resources.
- Author, organize and edit articles, blog posts, lesson plans, and syllabi in a digital collection to support North Carolina Standard Course of Study and the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.
- Research and design an example digital professional school library collection.
- Partnered with colleague to plan and teach World History unit with technology integration to two classes of approximately 25 9th graders each.
- Instructed students in grades 9 – 12 on conducting research and ethical use of information.
- Promoted reading via book displays, book trailers, book talks, and literature circles.
- Developed digital resources to support instruction across the curriculum.
- Selected and evaluated materials for the school library collection using national and state awards and guidelines.
- Prepared and published monthly report of media center usage and activities.
- Wrote and revised curriculum on both the school and county level.
- Taught Latin classes of 15 to 32 students at levels I through III in grades 9-12.
- Communicated and met with parents.
- Co-advised school chapter of National Junior Classical League.
- Taught Latin III classes of 13 to 16 students in grades 9- 12.
- Taught classes of 10 to 27 students in grades 9-12, including a combined Latin III/IV class.
- Created and implemented a Mythology curriculum using resources from the Center for Learning, the Perseus Project, and other educational organizations.
- Established and advised a chapter of the National Junior Classical League.
