About Me

Kathrin Petra Ivanovic was born in Bad Hersfeld, Hessen, Germany in 1980. She spent the majority of her formative years in Germany and relocated to the United States to attend University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History, with honors, from Temple University and a Master of Arts degree in Atlantic World History from Villanova University. She is a freelance writer and speaks on cultural diversity and transnational race relations. Kathrin has over eight years experience as a corporate paralegal in immigration law and ERISA litigation. Her passion is strengthening relationships between Afro German and Black German communities in the United States and the European Diaspora, as well as facilitating capacity building among other groups working to eradicate racism for all People of Color. Kathrin serves as founder of The Diversity Projekt, an organization that provides consulting services and resources to social justice and community-based initiatives. She is also a translator, project coordinator and development officer for the Black German Cultural Society, Inc., and currently serves on their Board of Directors. Kathrin speaks fluent German, loves to read, spend time with her family and friends, and travel.

The Diversity Projekt’s aim is to increase awareness and knowledge of race, racism, privilege, gender, sexism, homophobia, and stereotypes, in an effort to provide individuals with the language and tools necessary to contribute to promoting human diversity in their own communities. The Diversity Projekt organizes various forums for discussing race, sexuality and gender issues, as well as facilitating interfaith and intercultural advocacy. We have teamed with organizations in Philadelphia, New York and Europe, in order to promote transnational race relations.

Goals
  1. establish The Diversity Projekt as a coalition leader in Philadelphia
  2. join two progressive Board of Directors
  3. lead healthier lifestype (work out and eat better)
  4. more quiet time
