Karlyn Morissette is an e-marketing strategist and web developer, specializing in higher education. Currently the Web Producer in the Development Office at Dartmouth, she is half of the two-person team responsible for advising the office on e-marketing strategy and maintaining multiple web properties which bring millions of dollars worth of online donations each year. Prior to Dartmouth, Karlyn had the privilege of being one of the first full-time admissions e-marketers in the country. In that capacity, she was responsible for setting social networking strategy, establishing and maintaining student blogs, the admissions email marketing strategy, and managing the admissions web presence on the institutional website. To each position, she brought over a decade of web experience combined with formal education, holding both a BS in Communication from Boston University and an MBA from Norwich University.
Karlyn is one of the most prolific bloggers in the higher education community. In addition to karlynmorissette.com, she is a regular author on .eduGuru. Both sites are members of BlogHighEd, placing them among the most respected blogs in higher education. She is an invited speaker at conferences around the country on the various subjects, including integrating technology into your marketing plan, assessing return on investment of technology and e-mail marketing strategy.
Karlyn lives in Norwich, Vermont with her two ferrets, Monkey and Scampi and refuses to move west of Massachusetts because then she wouldn’t be able to call herself a “northern liberal elitist” any longer. She’s minorly obsessed with The West Wing on DVD and has been known to have marathons of all 7 seasons that last weeks at a time. Karlyn is a horrible proofreader, but thinks one of the great things about blogging is that is doesn’t necessarily have to be perfect if the ideas are good. She’s also admittedly a bit sarcastic, opinionated and weird, but doesn’t consider any of it to be a bad thing.
