About Me

I really dislike Katie Couric. However, I am like Katie Couric in that I have also been described as a "petite dynamo." I can turn my car out of a skid. The beverage cooler at 7-11 makes me really happy. My cell phone ring tone is "Lust for Life," which made the vet dance one day while he was examining my cat. I hate matching my socks out of the laundry basket, but nothing feels better than a brand new pair. I notice stuff. Like the other day on San Vicente Blvd. in LA (where I live), I noticed Pasquale's Cafe and Shoe Repair. I thought that was a little odd, but then I thought, you know, good for Pasquale, to be pursuing both of his life's callings.

Like Pasquale, I have two main career interests that seem incongruous with one another: clinical psychology and humor writing. I'm already employed in the field of clinical psychology, which I enjoy. However, I haven't yet pursued many writing opportunities. Although I write fairly often, I only post my writing on Facebook, where I have a small cadre of people who I like to entertain. Hence, I'm looking for writing opportunities in which I can reach a larger audience and challenge myself creatively. I specialize in:

-Wit
-Sass
-Bons Mot
-Sarcasm
-Cynicism
-Telling it like it is
-Heartwarming tales that make you feel sentimental and appreciative of life, yet faintly nauseated (sorry, that's not me, that's Mitch Albom)

My writing could best be described as "observational humor." I write essay-length pieces as well as short bits (think the "Proust Questionnaire" in Vanity Fair magazine, only funny).

I know, I know, I'm telling you about my writing instead of posting it. That is because I do have that other profession as a psychologist. While I am professional and personable at work, my writing may not be to the taste of some potential clients. If you would like to see some samples of my writing for professional collaboration, please contact me with a request.
