Susan Johnston Hey, Bostonians and NYCers! I'm contributing to a website called CityRover. It's a DailyCandy/UrbanDaddy-like city guide but with an emphasis on affordable indie spots instead of the over-priced, over-hyped venues. I think it's going to be super-cool, so I'd love for you to sign up: http://cityrover.com/the-newsletter/ Because it's a startup, I'm getting a certain fee per article and once they reach certain subscriber milestones, my fee gets bumped up. So, help me out and support a new startup!

Kenji Crosland I've come to terms with the fact that my business will require time to grow properly, and have decided to look for a day job. I plan on using the web app I created as proof that I have been doing something productive the last year and that I am a self-starter who can learn new skills quickly. On the other hand, I don't want employers to think that I'll just leave when my business takes off. What's the best way to reassure an employer that I'll be committed?

So when cos should be embracing entrepreneurs and this kind of lively discussion, they end up sticking to their in-the-box thinking.

Sabera (Kapasi) Photographer Several people I meet have multiple interests outside of full-time work and they attend conferences, events and networking events for work & pleasure. For ex: I attend networking events to look for work in marketing, food blogger meets to learn more about food blogging (I have my own food blog) and Alliance Francaise meetings to practice my french. I've been giving out separate cards for my food blog and marketing work so far. What do you do? Do you have separate elevator pitches as well?

Scott Palmer Hi all! Just wanted to add my GenX woes and hopes. In the last year I went from an invited guest at Obama's Inauguration to losing my marriage, 2 daughters, home, and career. All at 41y/o. Soon I may be homeless. With no formal education (as I learned photography as a trade), things are looking bleak. I am frantically trying to network here and elsewhere looking for hope, guidance and maybe an angel somewhere...Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...really.

Cara Pavelko What do you think is the greatest thing about being a Gen Xer? For me, it's my cynicism. It has made me a realist.

I think Gen Y and the Millennials are known for their attitude of entitlement. I keep feeling the need to explain workplace ettiquete and common courtesy to some our young workers. On a positive note, they do all get along very well, and want to be friends with everyone they work with, which is a pleasant change from the usual workplace back-stabbing.

Xers in my view tend to see themselves (ourselves) as "on my own," oppose the concept of authority, and tend to have a few trusted friends/family who have really got their back. Whereas Yers are more laid back, tend to have a lot more friends, and also prefer more direction. Millennials to me are like Yers on technology steroids. And Gen Yers and Boomers tend to get along very well at work. (I like Bruce Tulgan's books on the generations at work, they are very insightful and useful.)
