Julie was born in Moscow, Russia and moved to the United States with her mother shortly before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. She spent her formative years in Lexington, Massachusetts, where she was an active member of the community through her involvement with the local chapter of a national youth group, a Girl Scout troop, and an assortment of school-sponsored extracurricular activities.
Julie attended the University of Maryland where she earned Bachelors degrees in both International Business and Marketing as well as a minor in French Studies. She was involved with a number of student groups on campus where she sought out leadership roles. Most notably, she was an influential member of a national Panhellenic sorority, serving as her chapter’s Vice President in addition to a variety of other positions.
In what she believes may have been the experience that shaped her the most during her college career, Julie spent a semester abroad in Paris where she attended the International Students Division of Université de Paris IV - La Sorbonne and was fortunate enough to travel throughout Europe during program breaks and after its end.
