  • August 2009 to Present
  • Head of a 15 student freshmen dormitory. Designated as the point of contact regarding personal and school problems. Attended weekly RA meetings with peers and administrators regarding student life on campus. Created a casebook supplement to the Student Handbook for future RAs to reference. Casebook contained real life student hand book infractions and how RAs responded to each situation.

  • Spent over 250 hours shadowing military physicians in: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Radiology, and Family Medicine. Shadowed four Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) and three Doctors of Medicine (M.D.). Briefed and debriefed with each doctor regarding patients and how to recognize and diagnose medical problems. Obtained HIPAA certification.

  • Helped fellow students and staff with computer problems and inquiries. Informed full time IT staff of various network and computer hardware problems. Created and maintained a college computer database which contained over 250 computers, monitors, and printers.

  • Oversaw operations for the land tour division of Royal Caribbean Cruises. Managed and tracked 52 motor coaches throughout Alaska. Updated field staff and managers regarding daily operations, handled all radio and phone communications. Managed 15 workers on ship days to help transfer guests to pier. Moved 6,000 guests to/from the ship on ship days.

  • Studying an interdisciplinary curriculum based on the Great Books of Western civilization, with focus on the humanities and sciences. Coursework is comprised of extensive writing as well as rigorous oral examinations. Studies include four years of philosophy, literature, mathematics, and language, three years of laboratory sciences, and two years of music. Mathematics tutorials focus largely on reading original mathematical treatises and working through proofs ranging from those found in Euclid’s Elements to Einstein’s Relativity. Science tutorials focus largely on reading original texts concerning a wide range of topics in the natural sciences and reproducing classical experiments in the laboratory.

Interests
St. John's College activities:Student government, Student Review Board member, student mentor, member of the SJC hockey team. Founder of an Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) online group that has raised over $20,000 for ALS research. Total members: 80,000. Secured a $2,000 grant for the Philosophy Club of The University of Alaska Anchorage to host the first philosophy conference in Alaska. Local youth hockey coach and referee, Santa Fe and Anchorage
