I am currently the Office Manager for the Jefferson Council on Aging, Inc. in Metairie, LA. Our organization is responsible for senior services in Jefferson Parish, LA which is the largest parish in the New Orleans metropolitan area. I am responsible for our organization’s Emergency Operations Plan, purchasing activities as well as our fundraising and marketing campaign.
I have created a database containing every employee’s alternate contact information which is vital in this region due to hurricane evacuations. I am responsible for updating and maintaining our EOP with both the Jefferson Parish Office of Emergency Management and the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs. I regularly attend meetings with various private businesses, public agencies and non-profit organizations to discuss emergency preparedness and service continuity in the event of a disaster. I am also responsible for finding sponsors and partners to assist our organization in raising funds for our nutrition program.
I will receive my MPA from the University of New Orleans in May 2010, my study emphasis is Hazard Policy. I am currently the president of our program's student-alumni association.
