After a lifetime of unapologetic and mostly unexamined meat eating, I am now vegan. I started out as a pescetarian and then vegetarian. It took about a year for me to go vegan and no, it's not that hard and yes, you can live without cheese. My focus on this blog is writing about food in a way that connects eating with relationships, animal rights, health, and the simple joy that comes from stumbling across a great new recipe or meal. I was born in Zaragoza, Spain and raised in the Bronx, Manhattan, and central New Jersey. I am a graduate of Rutgers University, where I studied psychology and English literature. I currently live in Somerset, NJ with my family. I also spend a lot of time in Philadelphia now with my boyfriend Brian and will be moving there in the near future. In addition to being an assistant editor at a medical journal, my writing has been published in BUST, Elle, and Guitar World, albeit as letters to the editor but you've got to start somewhere. I also contribute to Vegans of Color (http://vegansofcolor.wordpress.com)
