Rebecca Thorman I don't know that I believe perfectionism is all that bad - like anything, it can get out of control, but I look at it as just another work style. Working in a start-up, one of my key lessons to learn was to sign off on something when it was "good enough." But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten hired had I not been so meticulous and results-oriented in my past positions. My boyfriend, on the other hand, has a more big-picture approach. I think the key is just to recognize your work style.

To pretty much everyone else's point we all have points in our jobs where we may have to go against our style a bit to get the work done. Like your boyfriend I am more a of big picture guy myself and tend to get demotivated if I have to spend too much time down in the weeds, but throughout my career I've had to demonstrate that I could also focus on the detail every now and again to get things done. Otherwise I would just be floating around in the "idea space" and those ideas would never get executed. There is definitely a give and take there.

Peter Burgin When it comes to resumes, do you think that functionality should be top priority, or should there be a mix of creativity in there too? I ask because most of what I was taught says to follow a standard format, but I want some flexibility in how I present the information. How much is too much?

Peter, my top choice as an employer is functionality.

I used to be an HR manager. No matter how hard you try, after reading hundreds of resumes a day, you want information fast and easy. Too much outside the norm means the resume gets pitched because the reader is too tired to dig out the info.

This is even more critical in a high unemployment period. I posted one position earlier this year and got 300 resume and emails in 48 hrs. It was overwhelming and the ones that stood out for me were those that understood the position and addressed what I would look for.

Creativity in a resume is more appropriate in the industry that requires a lot of art or creativity.

Sam Rye I had a rather sweeping change in life - from Business/Marketing/Design to Environmental Conservation. How? Volunteering. It gave me the safety of trialling another industry and way of life, when no one would've paid me to get this experience. Has anyone else made a similar shift + how did you go about it?

Kristine Fetalco What are your recommendations for good planners and other organization tools? I used a Franklin Covey planner that I really loved but discovered that this particular style had been discontinued. Currently in search for a good monthly/weekly planner and other organization tools.

Use paper and don't let other people tell you how you're life should be organized! I used N different paper planners before I discovered that a double-spiral notebook did all the work I needed, and didn't cram my foot into the glass slipper that Stephen Covey likes best.

If you insist on an electronic gizmo (translation: a notebook that runs out of batteries and gets destroyed in the rain), use an iPad, Dropbox to keep files, and iWork to create them. You get maximum freedom to organize yourself, easy ability to transfer files, and access to the web. Also, it's so damn expensive you'll be sure not to lose it.

That's my 2 cents.

I agree, though, that people should choose the tools that work best for them. Everyone's situation is different.

I grew tired of hefting around a big fat planner and instead opted to have a system that I can have on my computer when in front of the computer and in my pocket when I'm on the go--all without having to put in any additional effort to keep things synched.

Elysa Rice I wanted to get some thoughts on naming conventions for Twitter accounts for companies with multiple twitter folks. We are debating - @Company_FirstName or @Company_Region. We currently have @CompanyCity but this isn't scalable with where we are going next. Thoughts?

Ty Unglebower Unless it is an unusually subdued and high class joint, I am basically never going to attend any kind of networking event that takes place at a bar. This happens quite a bit, especially when interesting organizations are trying to find and meet new people, but i have a hard enough time with such events without the noise and shenanigans of a standard bar setting. I like to meet new people in quiet, controlled environments.

Almost every networking related event I've been to (minus conferences) has taken place at a bar setting - ASAE, YNPNdc, Social Media Club, Tweetups, etc) and I've found them to be much more conducive to meeting new people. The environment is more relaxed and everyone there just wants to meet new people. People focus less on creating new business or selling products/services and just want to build more relationships. I also think it's part of the organizer's job to ensure they select bars/places that are appropriate for networking. I find sit-down/more structured networking events to be very rigid and artificial.
