About Me

I attended Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois, and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. During my years at RLC and SIUC, I worked internships at both the Benton Grade School in Benton, IL and at the VA Medical Center in Marion, IL. Thanks to an ambitious drive to get a job before graduating college, I was hired at a boat factory in southern Illinois 3 weeks previous to graduating with my Bachelor of Science degree. I worked part time until I graduated. After working there for a few months, I noticed a severe lack of opportunity (a dead end, if you will) and that IS was considered a cost center, especially being aligned under the CFO. I then moved to the St Louis area and started work with Arch Coal, Inc, whose offices are located in suburban St Louis. I began in September of 2007 and continue to work there today (time of writing this: Oct 1 09). After about 8 months with Arch, I was promoted from a Service Desk Technician to a Computer Support Specialist. I, along with a lone partner, order computers and equipment for approximately 1,200 users, take escalated calls from the service desk, negotiate with vendors, and research and order software. I thoroughly enjoy working at Arch, and hope that opportunities arise in Information Security or Windows Server administration in the future.
