Ryan Paugh Hey guys -- I'm heading to Cape Cod on Saturday but not before I have a quick lunch in Boston to show my girlfriend around the city. I'd eventually love to live in Boston someday and I want to convince her to come with me. If I only have a 2-hour window to show her around what would you recommend that I do?

I ended up not having a ton of time in Boston so we went to Quincy Market and hit up the Oyster House for dinner. It ended up being great because there was a lot of different things going on and my girlfriend loved it.

I'm definitely going to try to come back out to Boston soon to visit some friends and get my girlfriend acquainted with the softer side of Boston. Quincy Market wouldn't be one of our normal hangouts if I lived out there.

Any ideas?

Jamie Nacht Farrell I'm always told I should have a "vision" for myself. Yet, I never have and it's led me to success - both professionally and personally. Is it necessary to have a "vision" of what you want in life? If so, does that vision have to include business and personal? And for women, is that "vision" harder to achieve based on the stereotypical 'role' of the mother in a household??? Interested in comments / especially from those who have achieved this; http://bit.ly/dovcmj

I just read that according to The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, women who ate an ounce of full-fat cheese daily stayed slimmer then their not-so-cheese-friendly peers. How delicious! I'm all for integrating social technology into education, but I'm a little conservative when it comes to in-person eduction. I think time spent learning in a real-world setting is important. Adding more social tech to homework assignments is great, but these kids need to spend time unplugged, too.

Penelope Trunk What do you think about changing your last name when you get married? I can't believe people do it, actually. I mean, you have an established track record in the workplace by the time most people get married. Why undermine yourself by telling people to call you another name? I have totally experienced HR hostility from an employee stand point.

At my office HR is responsibile for the Admin Assistants, which I find as a conflict of interest. If I have a complaint about my "manager" do I go to HR? When I did have a comment to make about a particular role they were asking us to take on I was reprimanded for not wanting to contribute to the company. I was simply voicing my concern and that should be acceptable.

Most recently, I was proposing a change in my schedule (working only a few days a week) as there is not much work coming my way. I figure it would help the company too. I can't imagine they want to pay me for sitting around. Now they are trying to force me to work the particular days that are good for them, forget about what works for me at home.

Not much of a human resource for me.

I do think that is something most individuals have to do for themselves to decide what their real interests are. However I do feel that my gypsy-like past may be somewhat of a detriment to my success now. When looking at my resume, potential employeers don't see someone that is unique and vertatile (which I am!). They see someone with no direction. It can be hard to explain in an interview.

Self discovery is critical but try not to go in too many different directions. I think it's helpful if your job past is cohesive to a degree.

That's the disadvantage of pushing kids earlier and earlier to making decisions about their life passions: there is more time for the goal to sit as this untarnished holy grail, and it becomes scary to take it off that pedestal. Real life is never going to be as perfectly edited as a 17 year old's daydream.

It sure does Eric!

This quote caught my attention from the article that you linked to, "If you are a noncelebrity on a reality show, you are given an opportunity," said entertainment attorney Steven Katleman of Greenberg Traurig. "It's a platform. You have to use it intelligently."

I think life is full of lessons. Instead of dwelling on the show's negative sides, maybe one thinks of how that they evolve from the platform of their own circumstances - like the Situation is doing. Maybe one sees Snooki stumbling around in a drunken stupor and thinks, "is that how I look when I've had one too many? That can't be good."

I definitely dont agree with the work out book and supps, but then again Dan Jansen and Chuck Norris have put out similar things.

I think Martin Short put it best when he said he is 'tired of the celebration of ignorance' - and that is the current trend we see with reality tv and talk shows. Unfortunately I think it breeds more ignorance and self-importance.

Wealthy individuals *probably* tend to be a little more heady about their financial transactions--philanthropy included--and look for ways to maximize all parties' benefit.

Less wealthy individuals *probably* tend to be a little more emotional in their financial transactions and don't necessarily weigh all the costs and benefits associated with them.

I'm led to believe that this is why the experimenters saw a difference in philanthropic giving with higher wealth individuals when they asked them to "imagine themselves as lower class." It took the transaction out of the logical and put it in the emotional.
