I create an editorial calendar for the entire year for my blog. For the most part, I do stick to the topics. Obviously, new topics pop up, so I may have to juggle, delete and add. Having the editorial calendar helps me to avoid wasting a lot of time trying to figure out what I should write about when I should be writing!

Juha Liikala Facebook related question: Do you read updates (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=updates) that fan pages send you? As far as I know, the only way to send a message directly to fan page members is through updates (not as messages) and these messages goes to the members updates folder (which can be hard to find). Do you think updates is useless or do you actually read them? If you have your own fan page, do you message your users through updates? Cheers! - Juha

Rowena Briones I have a question similar to Jeannie's...well, sort of. For some time I have been thinking of starting a blog. What's holding me back is that as a full-time student/part-time professional I'm afraid I won't have enough time to regularly post. Does anyone have any tips/advice on finding time to write? Should I just forget my inhibitions and go for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dian Reid Hi Kim, I agree with @Andrea. Seems like many here @ Brazen have a blog. It's what you put into it that makes you different from anyone else. If you don't have anything to say, or don't think a blog would benefit your business, then don't worry about it. But if you think you might have something to say, or that a blog would benefit your business in the slightest, give it a shot. Blogs are easy to set up. See if you like it and go from there. Whatever you do, just be you.

Your colleague may not realize she has overstepped, as you did mention you are in a religious area, so she may not know how you feel. I really appreciate your answer to me. You addressed my points and frustration. How does one go about finding a career coach who helps with long-term career management? Aside from rapport, how would one go about really quantifying the coach's results? Would the coach know how to work with someone like me? Are the certifications really informative as to a coach's ability? How do you find someone who only works with certain types of people in a certain type of space? How do you NOT WASTE MONEY just trying on different coaches for size? I would have rather spent $3,000 on investments in my IRA or on a trip to attend a friend's wedding, but I decided to invest in coaching. We all only have a limited amount of dollars and there are tons of temptations/necessities competing for that dollar. Why would I go with a coach who condescends to me and makes me do all the legwork for my position when that's exactly the opposite of what I'm looking for? Career coaching is not like personal training at all. Whoever used that analogy is wrong. I have a lot of training in rhetoric, logic, and argumentation, so if someone is going to use a faulty analogy with me just to pooh pooh my ideas, then that type of communication will be handled by my logical and analytical mind and that person should not take it personally at all. I like to clean up errors in logic and reasoning.

My advice is to continue what you're doing! SEO takes 3-6 months to kick in as Google doesn't gives you answers, it gives you controlled results!

If this doesn't work then I would recommend using another variation of your name, one that no one else has. It's the harsh reality but it is hard to fight celebrities online as they get a lot of press and link-backs.

McDermott" or some other variant, if used consistently, will help you rise in the rankings.

The goal is not to have everything you have ever done under one name--just get 3-10 great websites show up using your "unique" name and have some of those (LI, BC, FB) refer to your older works under your other, less unique, name.
