Eric Sforza I'm currently working on 3 startup projects that are looking to create websites. Since all of these companies are lean, I'm trying to find the most cost effective solutions. Each company does something different (social venture, small business w/ online store, consulting) so I'm looking for a variety of options. For example: Is it better to use a site builder - if so, which ones and why? Is there better value at getting a freelance graphic designer to build a few pages? Thanks in advance!

When you update you shouldn't be doing much - if any formatting.

Of course I'll caveat that with the advice to never copy stuff out of Word directly into Wordress. They don't play nice. Copy text into Notepad or a similar program that strips away the formatting then copy into Wordpress.

TOP IDEA: La Donna Lokey I believe that to find happiness, you've got to cultivate a healthy work/life balance, including at least one KILLER hobby or obsession off the clock. Maybe you were the hackey-sack champion of your dorm, once trained to be a cartoonist, or secretly want to be Cake Boss. Now's the time to tell the world: what are your MAD SKILLS?

Tyler Durbin I enjoy reading but find it difficult holding myself accountable to read & absorb it! So GenYJourney has created a sister site: http://GenYBookClub.com. GenYBookClub is an online community & monthly twitter chat dedicated to bringing the best GenY books & minds together. We vote on a book, take a month to read it & then have a twitter chat (#GenYBookClub) the 1st Tuesday of each month at 8pm ET. The idea is simple: One book. One month. One chat. Is this something you’d want to be involved in?

Zack Zaban Does anyone have tips on successfully taking a break from social media? This question sounds strange, but I find that the only way I can limit my interaction with others in the online world is to simply go to a location where I cannot get Internet.

I tend to have e-mail, RSS, and Twitter applications running whenever I'm at my computer, and seeing icons with numbers or notification overlays everywhere was a bit distracting. So I turned them all off. It's not really a break from social media, but at least I'm not constantly reminded that I'm connected - letting me get other work done online but still allowing me to switch gears if I want to.

I just try to stay off the computer if at all possible. It's helped a lot with achieving some balance.

Hi everybody, I was hoping somebody could give me some more information about training dogs in prison. I've read that those programs are a huge succes in the States and Australia and since we don't have them in Belgium I was interested in doing some research to start it up here. Can somebody help me with this or knows somebody who can give me more informations?

They live with the inmates, who work with them on basic acclimation and obedience. When they "graduate," they are adopted out into a home. Neither of my greys come from a prison program, but the programs are phenomenal! Unfortunately, many of them are being shut down due to funding issues. :(

Jay Hepner Hi Jess! I'm no expert, but I remember reading somewhere recently that sans serif fonts work better for body text. Compare your headlines, fonts above the blog proper to those below. Looks like Times Roman, right? Try Verdana or Arial. They're both sans serif fonts. Check out the fonts on this page, except of course the courier as you're typing!

Jess Lundie Hi Penelope (and anyone else who feels inclined to chime in) - I was wondering if you had a moment to look at my blog from a design perspective. I don't think it's really serving me - particularly my static front page, but my sidebars as well - but I am at a loss for how to change it. I feel like it just fails at catching people's attention, bringing them in, and keeping them. Any thoughts would be so appreciated. Thank you!

As a chronological, indexy blog reader, I have a hard time figuring out what other people will like. And thanks for the link! If I decide to go that way, which I'm leaning towards, those will give me a bunch of different templates to work off of with Headway (which gives far too much flexibility to people like me who are crummy at aesthetics/design :P).

There may be some, even many, who produce negative effects, but I think the vast majority of the workforce is doing SOMETHING productive and ultimately beneficial to/valued by someone. The economy wouldn't run otherwise.

Penelope Trunk Warning. I'm about to do a very bad personal branding move. Do not try this at home.... I'm so sad today that I can't think straight. And I can't get any work done. But then I thought, well, maybe if I were chatting in my group then that would 1. distract me from being sad and 2. count as me working, since really, on some level, it is my job to be doing this group. I mean, even when we are talking about Lance's (questionable) dating tactics, it still counts as work for me. Is anyone there?
