I really dabble in a lot of things in writing, I just want to be a writer. I try to show my personality in all of it.
I am a student in college majoring in English/Journalism. My focus: print journalism. I am willing to go wherever the industry takes me, even if that means my love for reporting does evidently become a completely online job or at least signing on with an interesting magazine, though I would rather not turn to independent journalism, because half of my love for journalism comes from the atmosphere of a news room and a system, I still post editorials and reviews on my blog alongside rants and personal entries.
My experience is small at the moment. I worked on a school newspaper my junior and senior years of high school--two different high schools, mind you--and feel it is where I belong. However, I have yet to make real connections with the student newspaper at my university. But I do hope to soon enough.
And after writing that bit about wanting to go wherever journalism takes me, I am slowly finding out these days, that I would just be happy going somewhere with writing even if it isn't journalism. I think once I am back in an official setting, I will feel more inclined to continue with journalism. After all, for me, the newsroom is half of the fun of being a reporter...
