found the perfect part-time retail situation: <25 hour/week, in a thrift store, working for my favorite local service organization. hours are mostly afternoons, which gives me mornings and afternoons to work on my many projects. question: how do I continue to enforce project "work" time in my no-pay hours?

after a few grueling days contemplating employment posts and options, I think I need to spend some time in a part-time retail situation. a "pay the bills while making plans" sort of arrangement. is this crazy?

About Me

Hi, I'm Jen Scaffidi. I do way too much stuff, and I'm currently figuring out the best way to manage my skills and interests.

I've worked with disabled adults, canvassed door-to-door for non-profits, answered customer service phones for a large corporation, tested my ability to be micro-managed in a small HR firm, and rocked basements and bars with bands across America. My current passions are music, politics, online information processes, and keeping my plants alive.

Developing an idea and working to see it to completion is more rewarding than the security that comes with a conventional career. I like to make things. I'd rather discuss options than take direct orders. I'm completely miserable when there's no procedure to suggest improvements to a process. And I often assume ownership of a project and run with it, even when it won't directly benefit me.

I've been wondering if that makes me an entrepreneur or simply resistant to authority.
