Jessica Bahr Has anyone read Flatterland (and I guess by that take Flatland)? I have heard reviews of Flatland but not Flatterland. What do you think of it?

Presh Talwalkar: I feel like I'm the only math-loving person who hated Flatland...I couldn't get over artificial narrative.

On the other hand, I really enjoy PBS Nova documentaries that explain physics in lay terms. A couple of my favorites are:

The ghost particle (about the neutrino)--unfortunately not online, but I got at my local library

I read Flatland, Sphereland, and subsequently Flatterland when I was 12 or 13, so really all I took away from it was the novelty and excitement of expanding my grasp of geometry... And yes, I'm that kind of dork who gets excited by geometry.

But reading it now, I look at it, and all I see is the commentary on Victorian society, and its drier than Dostoevsky... But I do still remember my childhood excitement, just not with the same passion.

Jason Nichols Stephen, what are your thoughts on Godel as a Platonist, although his work is frequently cited as "proof" of philosophical relativism?

Jason Nichols have not yet...interested in picking up a copy some time... I'm a big fan of godel

Stephen Evermore: It's a great read. It definitely dives (spirals?) right into the abstract.

Daniel Shporin So what are everyone's thoughts on this rally?

142 weeks ago from Investing

Daniel Shporin: Jason--I think the worst is yet to come. I'm anticipating around 60-80% off the highs within 5 years.

Shanice I'm just curious how people get trained to do certain background check through social networks, such as Facebook, twitter...etc

143 weeks ago from Corporate Talent Acquisition

Shanice: Oh ya, I was asking because I went to a workshop and some HR mentioned that they can find a lot of information on social networking sites.

Jason Nichols: I gotta back Tony up on this. I don't know about the legality, but it's completely unprofessional. I don't follow candidate's home and peep.
