On Friday I learned first hand the real human connection that social media enables. Early in the afternoon, I saw a link posted by 85 Broads to an event later that night organized by Change the Ratio. I saw it was free of charge and City Speaker Christine Quinn was speaking. I attended the event, met many impressive women and men with entrepreneurial ambitions and ideas, and came away inspired.

Until recently I was one of those technically challenged folks, who doubted the benefit and legitimacy of social media. That was until I started educating myself on entrepreneurship, venture capital and awesome angel investors like Golden Seeds -- www.goldenseeds.com -- by reading their twitter feed. Social media is now an established marketing channel for businesses, and social media gurus are one of the rare and growing career fields.

About Me

Since graduating with a liberal arts degree in East Asian Studies, I've tasted many industries: internet startup, international affairs, heavy industries, consumer products, hedge fund, and now an angel investment group/venture capital.

It's been a pretty interesting few years, and a bumpy ride so far, to say the least. And I learned that I work best where my passion is. And I'm passionate about equality, about not judging a book by its cover, about considering things from all angles, about the off beaten track, about stories with unexpected endings.
