Juha Liikala Poll (2 questions): 1. Do you watch / listen to iTunes podcasts? 2. Do you prefer those as video or just as plain audio? Does it matter to you?

I tend to listen while walking somewhere or riding on public transport and I definitely prefer audio to video content when it comes to a podcast.

Raine: I do and I prefer audio because I listen to them while I work.

Juha Liikala Hi fellow Brazens! I hope this doesn't come across as a brash self promotion (that's not the purpose at all). I'd just like to know your opinions about the new "about" section I just put up on my site. I had a section like that before, but I completely rewrote it because I wanted to express more visibly what the site is and who it's for. Do you get a clear picture about what the site is all about after reading the "new about" section? http://www.nomadcouch.com/what-is-this-place/ Thanks!

James Schipper: Late to this thread, but assuming you are talking about your current About page, it explains the site very well. But you already knew I'd say that :-)

Juha Liikala: Hah, thanks James! Yeah, I think it's pretty decent now. Going to stick with it! :)

Joyce Tipping I feel like the social media and online networking hype has gone hand in hand with the rise of smartphones and similar technology. We (my husband and I) haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet, but I've been sorely tempted many times! :) So here's my question to you guys: How does your smartphone fit into your professional life? After an honest examination, do you feel it's crucial to your work, a helpful convenience, or purely a personal luxury? Feel free to elaborate!

Yesterday I used my cell phone to call AAA when my alternator gave out. That's the highlight of my life with high tech. I do not make more money or provide better service as a result of technology although I do handle more paper.

If I need to be online, I can go do that and having it on my phone was redundant. When I'm out paddling in my kayak, I don't want to hear the email notification going off. It works well for me, so I am not turning the functionality back on.

Rebecca MacDonald That's a good question, Ty. Anyone have any good tips for finding interview subjects for freelance articles beyond your own network of friends/family/colleagues?

Rebecca MacDonald: Thanks for the HARO tip. Probably an obvious answer, just goes to show I've been writing for corporate clients too long!

I also use Twitter to put out requests and get people to retweet them. Lastly, asking sources you've already lined up if they'd recommend you talk to anyone else has been particularly helpful for me.

Lar Van Der Jagt Location Independent lifestyle is great! I've spent the last month or so working on a small island off the coast of Panama. There is a co-working place here called Coco Vivo, check it out!

Lea Woodward: Bocas del Toro is great (especially out of season) - just watch out for the chitras (sandflies) which are voracious.
