I am a young petroleum landman looking for an opportunity that will allow me to showcase my talents and skills while also developing them to make me a better professional in this industry. In the two years that I have been working in the oil and gas industry, I have proven myself to be a hard-working and dependable individual who also takes great pride in his work. While I have the obvious skills required of an ideal landman, I also possess many intangibles that make me a great fit for any organization.
Beginning my craft as an abstractor has helped me to become savvy at researching title. When running title, I create runsheets and flowcharts in Microsoft Excel to identify gaps and verify my work. Once I have acquired all relevant information, I construct the appropriate reports in Microsoft Word while using the templates and formats preferred by my clients. Aside from abstracting, my experience includes due diligence for acquisitions, mineral ownership reports, lease takeoffs and leasehold reports. I also have experience working with metes and bounds and deed plotting programs. Because I am proud of the work that I do, I exhibit great attention to detail and thoroughness. Also, I have experience researching title both with and without the aid of abstract plants.
Both my written and verbal communication skills are strong, whether I’m communicating with team members, gatekeepers at the courthouse and abstract plants, or the everyday people that I meet through my job. I also get along well with people of all ages and backgrounds. While I work well within a group, my superiors can trust me with minimal supervision while knowing that I will take the initiative required to excel alone. I believe in keeping my work organized, whether it is in physical or digital form, and I am very comfortable and proficient with a computer, which is a necessity for today’s landman.
With every new challenge that being a landman has thrown at me, I have found a way to prosper and prepare myself for what lies ahead. I have great confidence in my abilities and would like to bring those abilities and winning attitude to your organization. My hopes and expectations are big: I seek to make myself a staple in this business, by educating myself through any means possible.
