I've never used a video before to learn how to box, I just learned from my dad, boxing with equipment, and boxing with my brother. I recommend to have a sparing partner that can keep you dedicated and practicing with. And you don't need to go full on boxing with them, you could just do body shots and pull your shots (come out hard with your punch but land soft with the hit).
I hope this was helpful.

Brian Heys I recently called time on my blog and drew a line in the sand with my content. After trying for nearly a year to write about anything and everything, I decided I really need a niche. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone recently turned their 'failing' blog around? I'm writing a post series about the process, and welcome any input.

If you want to be more focused, though, then absolutely choose one thing, especially if you want to be recognized for it and Google Searched, etc. But, I literally write about a load of things, with no certain restrictions and I still get the same amount (if not more) traffic.

Even after all this sage advice, I'm still feeling the itch to write about things not in my blog's scope. Not all the time, just every once in awhile. Do people ever do a "I know this is off-topic, but..." post in niche blogs, or is that generally not done, unheard of & frowned upon?

I guess one solution if this IS frowned upon is to find someone who blogged about what you want to talk about, and add your comment. :)

Jake The hardest thing to getting a book finished is finishing the first chapter. The first chapter is where everything is. It's where you hook your reader into reading more, it's where you put the story together and hand it to the person holding the book. It's where everything comes together. Due to those facts, the first chapter is what holds me back at most times. I always think that it could be so much better so I edit and edit and... edit. Then when I'm done I have to go back and edit again.

Constantly going back over the same sentences -- a result of writing too much condensed poetry I think. I have started the short story approach to develop my characters, and have taken to quick sketches of important ones to allow me to visualize their physical aspects as well as personality quirks that reveal themselves in posture, facial expressions, etc.

As a creator of any sort, we must first have a concept for what makes good - or bad - whatever it is we create. If one simply wishes to sell, it doesn't matter. If one wishes to create substance, then s/he ought to be prepared to keep editing until every detail is correct. Sorry folks, I come from an age where quality mattered more than speed (or getting it done now). Take your time... get it right.
Also, I agree with Bee. What makes anyone think the first chapter has to be written first? Move ahead, get some positive work completed and who knows? By the time you get back to chapter 1, you may decide it is no longer relevant to your story!
Remember, no matter how frustrating any page may be to write, it is all important. What's left behind in the editing process always offers more to creative development.

An exact reason why I started blogging, to try to perfect my writing.

I say that sometimes you should work for comments. Not in the greedy way of just collecting readers but to collect constructive criticism to yourself. See what you can do better and see what you have done right.

I get excited to when someone comments but a lot of the time I write just to write. Hence the first sentence I wrote on this comment.

Jake Am reading "Your Heart Belongs To Me" and surprisingly... "Twilight". Starting to love both of them and am hoping to finish them soon. Going To Complain About: "The Passage", due to the fact that if the author wasn't an idiot he could have marketed this book to any age, especially teens, and would've made as big as Twilight. But he put so much language in it that there is no way, I swear that most of the teens in the U.S. would have already read it by now if it weren't for its language. Bye

The immense size of the company does not allow for any kind of one-to-one interaction with anyone at google. So, when they "shut down" your account as a result of anything, you're SOL.

Allie Brosh from Hyperbole and a Half (probably the funniest blog I've ever read in my life) would be the one who put it most significantly recently:

"My AdSense account was just disabled for "generating invalid activity" even though I have not done anything wrong. I will not be paid any outstanding balances. This essentially just took away 80% of my income."

Currently I am running ads on one regularly updated site (www.postmarkedlove.com) and the rest of my sites I put into CashParking at Godaddy. None of them are really doing anything though. I would love to get adsense to a point of a second income. That would be a major step towards location independency!

I'm glad you're pushing through with reading women's blogs. We all can benefit from someone else's perspective sometimes. I admire your openness to learning and new experiences.

However, I can't totally agree with you about the comments part. On the net, posting comments and showing your appreciation to other bloggers is a valid way of getting traffic to come your way. It's a reciprocal thing. In fact I think one kind of comments app (DISQUS?) actually captures your latest blog post for you so that the reader can click to it. I'm not recommending you spam the writer and post any old link into the comments section. However, it's considered totally acceptable to promote a relevant article in your own blog, especially after you've made a comment that makes a lot of sense.

As for me, I don't have a post right now that would be related to your post, so I do think you're a bit of a pioneer. But thanks for the idea, I might try it one day.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, thanks for commenting and giving me some well needed feedback.

For the comments part, the comments that I was inquiring were the type of spam ones. The ones that people just put a very over exhausted comment and then they post their url, over, and over again. Seriously I've had two people who wrote the exact same thing every post along with their url. And they weren't even in english! Anyways, I just delete those kind of things. But if someone (I've had a few) will actually try to give a commentual conversation, they will stay.
Thanks for the support.
