When I was President of Spectrum, we tossed around the idea of making a central database of youth based resources of LGBTQ youth in the Phoenix valley (specifically high school students.) I'm thinking of rolling that over into an interactive Wiki like website.

About Me

As I progressed through college, I found that I'm highly passionate about community outreach and charitable work. I was an officer (including president) of several organizations that had the goals of increasing quality of life, engagement, and relationship building, and that's what I hope to be part of professionally. I'm very passionate about marketing - I created my own branding campaign, including a logo, shirts, and social media for Spectrum. I also enhanced my marketing abilities through interning at Arrowhead Hospital, where I learned how to write professional articles and press releases. These skills are furthered through Crisis Nursery, where every project equals to real money that impacts our programs and services. I want to make your mission visible to all so that it's a first resource for its community.

I've been described as dedicated, taking business calls at midnight for funding, but inclusive and teamwork oriented. I want everyone to feel involved and to be able to put their greatest talents forward for the mission. Doing research is my idea of a fantastic evening; I academic database surf in my spare time. Some of my closest friendships came from my work, and I'm very proud of every place I've had the honor of being part of.

Work History

  • Crisis Nursery
  • Communications Intern
  • September 2011 to Present
  • At Crisis Nursery, I became their first ever Development intern, and have quickly taken on several of the major responsibilities of the Communications Manager. I develop and publish a monthly newsletter that reaches 4,000 donors, have become the main editor of the official agency website, and have complete control over Crisis Nursery's social media accounts. This has lead to an increase from 730 to 1,164 Likes and the receiving of a grant from 12 News for 6,000 because of my social media campaign. I also lead the creation of Constant Contact eblasts, saving the agency thousands of dollars and leading to the highest monthly donation rate in 5 years after my eblasts for the Working Poor Tax Credit.

  • Arizona State University
  • Dean of Students Assistant
  • August 2010 to May 2011
  • Served as Administrative/Office Assistant to the Dean of Students at Educational Outreach and Student Services. Was responsible for answering questions from the community, parents, and potential students regarding the college, departments, and programs. Also maintained student hire/termination, safety and key databases.

  • Spectrum West
  • Officer (President, Vice President, Treasurer)
  • January 2010 to May 2011
  • At Spectrum, I led the second wave of revival of the organization, which had been disbanded for over a year up to several months previously. As President, I launched a branding and social media campaign, designed new shirts, launched a newsletter, and created the group's first two events post-revival. This led to a quadrupling of the membership, in total, to over 87 persons. As Vice-President the following semester, I was responsible for mentoring the then-President, which meant taking on a supervisory position and co-managing the continued growth of the organization.

  • Phoenix Coyotes
  • Promotions Distribution Assistant
  • September 2009 to May 2010
  • I was responsible for creating a positive environment for families and fans while ensuring that promotional materials successfully reached the hands of every ticketholder on behalf of the marketing department.

  • Marketing Intern
  • Arrowhead Hospital
  • May 2009 to May 2010
  • While at Arrowhead Hospital, I was the Marketing department's first ever intern, and I assisted my supervisor in making our hospital and its doctors visible and accepted in our community. This was done through increased coverage of advertisements and articles in local media despite severe budget cuts. While there, I composed a media portfolio for Marketing and published several newsletter articles for internal viewing (hundreds of readers) as well as press releases. I learned Sharepoint to redesign the hospital's employee intranet and lowered the waiting time by 2/3rds for those seeking answers from an unstaffed Wellness hotline.

  • Glendale Community College
  • Media Assistant
  • September 2007 to May 2009
  • My former supervisor at Glendale College's Media Services described the shift I led as one of the most efficient, independent, capable and personable shifts they've had. I scheduled, set up, troubleshooted and removed media equipment for events and classroom use while under very tight deadlines.

  • Major League Baseball
  • Designated Hitter (Volunteer)
  • July 2011 to July 2011
  • I was given the chance to combine a strong passion for baseball, community interaction and marketing while volunteering for Major League Baseball's FanFest in Phoenix. Responsible for distributing marketing materials, recruiting fans for contests, presenting myself as a walking marketing tool by entertaining families through the operation of a pitching cage, and managing interaction and security at Tony Gwynn's autograph table, which had over 600 visitors. The event brought over 4 million dollars to Arizona.
