I work for the startup Loom, Inc. We offer a managed open source learning management system (LMS), which builds on Moodle, the most popular open source answer to online education, by providing technical support, customer support and cloud hosting. We launched our first client in September. Now we're looking for the next!
Before all that, however, I was shipped off to a British boarding school for four years. I then went on to attend the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (now Newcastle University), where I graduated with a BA in English Literature and didn't drink a single pint of Newcastle Brown Ale. Following that I recieved my Masters in English Literary Studies from Durham University, as well as a lot of frizzy hair due to eight years of English weather.
I currently live in Charlotte, NC, with my boyfriend Jason and our Australian shepherd puppy Ninja. Jason is great not only because he is the love of my life but also because he let me paint our apartment on a whim despite not knowing if it's allowed by the terms of our lease, and now we have turquoise accent walls. I'm a quick learner so it didn't take me long to realize that if I complained long enough I'd get my way, which sometimes when I'm lucky also involves new pairs of shoes.
I also began training for and competing in triathlons. Or, not training for and competing in triathlons. That model hasn't ended badly thus far, either, but it's early days yet. With three sprint distances under my belt, I look forward to completing an Olympic distance and perhaps even one day figuring out how to use the gears on my bike. I also love interior design, reading and bad television, and hoping that Ninja will one day magically train herself.
