Halibut PLEASE, people, why are you sending us videos of yourself speaking your blog? NO, NO, NO, NO, NO. Have you looked at it? Do you see yourselves? Stick to the script....no vidcam unless you're auditioning for The Guild. Thanks, Respectfully, someone who cares.

Halibut The Completely Free Guide to Becoming Famous on the Interwebs without Paying a Dime. When I published a 'zine back in the 90s, my company was always in the news. Free PR is what it's all about. So what's with these "Adwords" ads I'm always getting....to PAY $5 each hit? Am I misreading something?

Two years ago, genius entrepreneur Andy Bowdoin came up with a brilliant idea to market internet advertising. It was set up in a multi-level marketing platform to give incentives to grow quickly. And grow quickly it did. In the space of 6 months it grew to 120,000 members with $50 mil in the coffers. There were many reasons this company waved red flags to the feds, but within 6 months of my joining, the feds had moved in and removed ASD lock stock n barrel, including all equipment and seizing the $50 mil as "forfeiture" on the grounds that it was a ponzi scheme. I lost everything. I had an art gallery at the time which was dependent on word of mouth. ASD had enabled a growing number of local entrepreneurs to view each other's websites and get paid for it. When they shut down ASD they shut down my income and my own personal marketing niche. Poor Andy lost everything and is facing criminal charges.

So beware your approach to media marketing and how you earn your dollars doing it.

Halibut What did you all think about the web-a-thon last night on Blogging Bootcamp? I turned if off after the first "f*ck". Then tried it again about 10 minutes later but the hostess was beating a dead horse and the amount of flies around the carcass chased me away. Did they ever make any good points?

Timothy Johnson III Hi everyone. I was curious if I could get your opinions on definite "must have" software skills for a budding marketing professional. I've noticed a lot of entry level marketing jobs seem to be looking for a jack-of-all trades. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm generally happy if they don't ask me if I mind running out for coffee or dry cleaning or dog walking on alternate Sundays. These days I throw myself on the carpet and beg, assuring everyone in the room that I am capable of anything and everything if only they will give me half a chance. Good luck with your endeavors and keep us posted on how you are doing.

paulmacp Hi I am looking for some reconditions on professional editors... who you have used, who you have liked... who to stay away from? I have taken my manuscript to the third draft and is about as good as I can make it. I am looking for a pro to polish it up and make me look literate (catch the bad grammar and language usage mistakes that I can no longer see). As a but of background... the book is called "The Wealthy Blogger: The Common Sense Guide To Successful Financial Planning"

If not, we should make one up. How 'bout "stiction," a combination of stammering and diction?
