Dan Canedo Does anyone have any recommendations of good dubstep artists/songs that have come out recently? I've just been getting into the genre and I like it a lot and I want to download some songs. All the different elements are great.

Carlee Mallard My sister & I are road-tripping to Bonnaroo 2010 on Wednesday to help volunteer for a community gardening nonprofit & listen to some awesome music! We'll be camping outside for 5 nights in Tennessee! Anyone else going from Brazen or has anyone been before and have tips for a first-time outdoor music festival goer?

I went to the first Bonnaroo - which was cuurraazzy disorganized, but with 3 days of Panic, who cares? I followed that up with 2 more "Roos". Although during the third Roo, I realized this fest was just too big for me. Still, being a veteran, I can tell you 3 things that saved my life: widebrim straw hat, sunscreen and water! Have fun, girl and remember to smile, smile, smile!

Scott Rossow This topic was brought up elsewhere but I wanted to address appropriately here: music choices and productivity. For me, the types of music I listen to has a huge impact on my productivity level. Some of my favorite music styles are awful for me to listen to when I work... hard rap, D'Angelo / John Legend / Anthony Hamilton R&B and Soul, and vocal or fusion/'out there' jazz are all too distracting. My best work-music is quick-paced instrumental (no vocals are key) jazz. What about you guys?

Jambands used to be my go-to but it's hard for me to find faster-paced Jamband stuff and the slower music slows the pace of my work. Some Galactic and String Cheese used to do the trick though. Today I've been listening to hip-hop Instrumentals which I've thoroughly enjoyed while not being distracting.

It depends what i'm working on. When i'm working on putting together my hip hop affirmations, I listen to hip hop (really listening for the lyrics). If I am engaged in other work I can go with someone like Seal or I like classical (no words).

Jonathan S. Ross I decided to take my business blog, which thus far has avoided politics, into these rough waters because while I see a lot of partisan bickering about the issues facing the U.S., I see little in the way of coherent thought being put towards finding solutions. I'd love to get some feedback and thoughts on what I have to say in my inaugural post on this subject: http://zentropist.wordpress.com/2010/02/23/the-coming-american-revolution/ I welcome public and private commentary!

I'm currently volunteering on the Hill and every day I go I come home deeply frustrated. I'm 22 and my generation will bear the costs of this bloated government and its lack of accountability (or lack of holding other entities accountable).

I'd love to hear more of your views! Are you actively involved in politics/government?

Kavita,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It will take quality individuals to work for change, and if we all become cynical and don't seek to find solutions for our collective good, we face a very ugly future.

I think that our system has mutated in that our country's founders did not foresee the rise of "professional" politicians whose focus is largely on getting re-elected and remaining in power, or leveraging their government service for their financial benefit when they return to the private sector. It's a very real problem these days...

Jay Hepner Hey, you've probably heard of Them Crooked Vultures by now. Maybe not. Either way here's a link from NPR's Song of the Day, which you too can subscribe to: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123526806&sc=nl&cc=.... Was a huge Zeppelin fan, am a huge FooFighters fan. Don't know much about Queens of the Stone Age, 'cept they had that one song... This tune sounds way like Sunshine of Your Love era Cream. Check it out.

I've been a freelancer for Bullz-Eye.com (and their music blog esdmusic.com) and PopMatters.com since 2006, so that's how I hook it up. Started with both of them while I was still in graduate journalism school at Kent State, where I first got some clips with the school paper. PopMatters is looking for some new music writers, they don't pay but you can get free tix to review shows, which is payment in itself...

Hey Josh,
I do indeed hang around the local music scene, aiming to get a new band together too. Info is all over, what kind of music are you into? There's a local band I am friends with called Fatback Circus that is playing this Saturday 12/19 at the Belmont, highly recommended. Not only do they rock out in a fun way, they drew a lot of cute girls to their show last week at the Lucky Lounge
