Grace Boyle Just did Network Roulette with the Community Karma Chat today (for the first time). Loved it! Ideas: Have an option to "continue the conversation" if we aren't done talking/networking. Also, what about that follow up link in the chat box window, so I can see who I talked to after and follow up with them. Until Paugh told me about it, I didn't know it was there. Thanks guys :)

I think the topic idea is great--although sometimes it's nice to see how organic connections have come up in the conversations I've had thus far. I talked with not just more folks, but more like-minded folks. Look forward to sticking with this as momentum build in the days/weeks ahead!

On a related note--any thoughts on extending the 3 minutes to 5 minutes? I know you need to keep it short and succinct--just an idea!

Of course that was enough to pay for the blog and the hosting, so it was enough for me. Bear in mind that the vast, vast majority of people who blog will not ever monetize that blog past a few dollars a month. Why? It makes far more sense to ad spend on big blogs with established readership than to make what are effectively "bets" on small or, worse, tiny ones.

I think those kind of people will always be like that. I don't like agreeable people...in fact, I think agreeable people are more annoying but have a healthy dose of each. Don't stir up an argument just to do so, just to cause a rise, just to hear yourself speak. Ryan Paugh Big city or small city? Where do you prefer to live and work? I've always leaned towards smaller places, but I'm thinking that the next city I live in might end up being larger than I am used to. TOP IDEA: Grace Boyle I'm in the midst of completing an annual review for the startup I work for (been there almost 2 years!) We're feeling a little more grown-up and it's the first time we're doing them (formally). As I was filling out some of the questions, adding objectives, goals, looking back, etc. I thought how useful it was. Then I thought, what do entrepreneurs do? How do you track your goals if you're working alone (ahem, lifestyle design)? How do you follow your progression and give yourself milestones?

Some of the people here mentioned that they received personal pitches - which I love and am all for. If you're just emailing everybody at once, that's lame.

Grace Boyle I find that no matter what, office politics exist. There seems to be an ebb and flow, role players, leaders, those that speak up, those that are quiet, etc. Doesn't this seem to exist everywhere within any organized group of people? Switzerland does have a powerful position of influence and of course, they're not lazy, uninterested or uninvolved, quite the opposite.

Although this isn't in a restaurant, this is service in terms of working alongside caterers, bartenders and servicing a group of people for an event (often weddings, parties, charities, etc.)

This was, to this day, the hardest and most challenging job because I had to deal with hundreds of people at once, ensure their food, drink, and event was great and something ALWAYS went wrong. There are so many moving pieces in the service industry because it's where people pay money, for other people to entertain or treat them well. It's luxury, really.
