TOP IDEA: Daniel Sunshine I'm starting a new media innovation and trends group and would like to invite Brazen members to get in touch if you are interested in playing a roll. The group will identify top online and tech trends and will collaborate to create blog posts on the subjects. This is a great way to focus on topics that interest you and feature your insights to a broader audience. I used to head National Geographic's Gen Y Trends Group and love analyzing the impact of innovation. Post a comment if interested.

Giovanni Taylor-Peace I recently found a website called BookSneeze that provides free books to bloggers in exchange for a review (can be positive or negative) on their blog as well as the usual sites (i.e. Amazon, B&N, etc.) I think I can incorporate it into my blog but the question is will these reviews distract from my other blog content or even diminish it? Curious to see if other folks have heard of this program or have signed up already.

For me, my blog is about personal development and growth, so I pick books that will fit into that genre.

paulmacp I have an idea how to set this up... tell me what you think. Here is the work flow as I see it. I set up a private blog -- someone joins the group, asks to join appropriate admin (we will have more than one) will log into the blog and set them up a user id and the blog will e-mail new user password. Then (more to come in comment thread):

Giovanni Taylor-Peace I've been using StumbleUpon for a few weeks now so I'm glad to combine efforts. The next step for me is building up a small crowd of loyal readers. Thanks for starting this group Annabel. http://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/giovannitp/

Jake Brain constipation is the worst thing for a serious blogger. I've been trying to get on my blog and type something note worthy for about two weeks, but sadly I haven't been able to at all. I'm still stuck in this loop so now todays goal is to get a few ideas and brainstorm.

I've often heard that the best way to get through writers block is to write. So don't be like me and stop writing, Tweet a bit like Isao suggested. Great post Giovanni a friend introduced me to personal brain at http://www.thebrain.com/ . It's a good tool for mind mapping.

Marian Schembari What do you guys think about the effectiveness of buying your own domain name? I shelled out the dough but I've seen a lot of SUPER successful blogs with url's with blogspot or wordpress in the ink. Thoughts?

Switching to google analytics was really useful, because then I knew how much time people were spending on my site on average and what the bounce rate was. I also got better feedback about what search queries and websites were driving traffic. Simple changes really improved my bounce rate, too.

Steven Churchill Is it worth developing some irrelevant (but very interesting) content to pull people to your blog? Hoping some will stay/subscribe to the more serious content? I see some A-list bloggers that throw things in that seem so random. Not sure if this is deliberate (and crafty) or just thoughtless.

The A list gets to the A list by staying on their topic but always having an interesting take on their topic. So they think of each post as needing spice. That's what makes them A list. It's totally small-time to put something off-topic up just because it will get traffic. Because it won't. You get traffic by sticking to a topic that people come there for.

Giovanni Taylor-Peace I've found it helpful to just go ahead and jump into it right away in terms of getting the concept down. I wrote mine while commuting home from work and then slept on it so I could look at it with fresh eyes the following day. I don't think you have to worry too much about content in the beginning - just write what comes natural to you and it will get easier over time. Unless you're purposely driving a lot of people to your blog you won't have to worry about it early on.
