Currently a computer science student at the College of New Jersey, I will be graduating in 2011 into one of the worst job markets imaginable. However, internships, GPA, and job experience are what I'm worried about now. Hopefully I can get on the radar, start getting experience, and make a name for myself in the technology industry.
I would like to take my computer science degree into the security field. Something about trying to out smart the people who would do harm to a person's computer, personal information, or a company's assets is attractive to me, not to mention the ever changing environment that it takes place in. New viruses are emerging every week, new strategies for hackers, and new devices that put the ordinary company or individual at risk. This is where I want to be, on the fore front of combating cyber terrorism.
I'm looking for any kind of computer related job that I can get my hands dirty in, as well as any advice from peers, industry experts, or employers regarding what skills I should learn, what path I should look into, and how to achieve my goals.
Worked summers for 4 years in between school. Some jobs help you find what you want to do, this one helped me find what I didn't want to do. It also gave me the motivation to work hard in school and to find a better job for the long run. It taught me loyalty, hard work, perseverance, and communication skills.
