Experience

I have become very involved in the publishing industry combining my skills with photography, design, planning, and video to create my current project, MIX IT UP Magazine. I have always enjoyed taking photos, reading magazines, and learning how it all comes together. I have taken classes in photojournalism, journalism, advertising, marketing, and the list goes on as it relates to communications.

We live in an amazing world and I am here to help capture it and tell its stories. While attending the junior college I was a contributing photographer for The Oak Leaf, the schools newspaper. I worked close with the staff and that was actually where I first got my work published.

From there I moved onto landing my first internship at the North Bay Bohemian, a free local paper that services three counties Marin, Sonoma, and Napa. I did photography as well as a wrote articles. I have created a page containing these articles and photos here. Once I transferred to Sonoma State University I work as a photographer on the Star, the schools weekly newspaper. While there, I not only took photos but I also wrote a few articles. It wasn't long before I was promoted to Photo Editor.

During all of this I was able to land my biggest internship yet, an editorial intern for Make magazine. Make is a print magazine as well as online, owned by O'Reilly Company, and also publishes Craft magazine, now only available online. I do work for both magazines. I switched over from an editorial intern to a photo intern. Now, I am the assistant to our photo editor, helping her gather photos, photo credits, checking photo specs, taking photos, setting up shoots, and more.
