Good afternoon,
My name is Doug Scott and I am currently searching for a full-time Distance Education, Instructional Designer or Instructional Technologist Position.
Please view my resume which lists my diverse experience, education and background. I think that you will find that I am uniquely qualified for various positions from both an education and project management perspective. The bullets below chronologically detail my skill set:
Graduate, Savannah College of Art and Design, M.F.A. Historic Preservation.
Five years as a project manager for a historic research firm, specializing in public educational outreach.
Five years as a project manager for a Historic Preservation consulting firm, specializing in large-scale rehabilitation and materials conservation of nationally significant buildings.
Earned a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Lehigh University.
Served as an Assistant Instructional Technologist with DeSales University, focused on technology support and the assessment and design of Distance Education curriculum.
Currently employed as an Assistant Instructional Technologist with Lehigh University.
Highlights of my Higher Education Instructional Technology experience include:
Authored a journal article for Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education that dealt with integrating Web 2.0 and geospatial technologies (such as GIS and Google Earth) with appropriate pedagogy for use in history education. Presented this research at a national conference this past November.
Designed a web-based, interactive tutorial for medical workers for use in hospital settings dealing with preventing the spread of nosocomial diseases.
Developed a web-based master course design for distance education settings, promoting collaboration and providing a measure of “real world” meaning to course activities. The program is intended to track and integrate course content to provide a more complete learning experience.
I have multiple examples of my work completed during my tenure at Lehigh University and DeSales University that highlights my Higher Education Instructional Technology and Design experience; and examples from Noble Preservation Services and Hunter Research, Inc. that highlights my experience in project management and Historic Preservation education. I would be happy to share these materials upon our further dialogue.
In summary, I feel that my depth of experience in Higher Education combined with the private sector experience gained as a Historic Preservationist make me uniquely qualified for a Distance Education, Instructional Design and Technology position. If my qualifications do not meet your needs, I would be pleased to discuss other positions that may be better suited to my particular skill set.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to speaking with you and learning more about his opportunity.
Best Regards,
Doug Scott
