I am a recent graduate working at my beloved alma mater as an academic affairs professional. I am an INTJ. I am vegan. I think a lot about education (especially higher education and education policy), urbanism (especially transportation), food (especially cooking and sustainable food systems), and international affairs (especially politics). I spend most of my free time reading, running, writing, watching 'Jeopardy!,' and trying to play the guitar. My drinks of choice are a thick espresso stout, a dirty martini, or bourbon with two ice cubes, depending on a variety of factors such as my mood, the season, and my company.
I perform degree audits when students apply to graduate from the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. This involves examining confidential records to determine whether students have fulfilled the College and University's requirements. My primary job is a mix of data-entry, curriculum-interpretation, and archiving. I will also be responsible for editing the LSA Auditors' Office web-content using the CMS Vignette.
Taught incoming students to use UM’s online software and advised them on how to pick and schedule classes. Introduced students to Michigan’s academic culture and helped them develop a college mindset.
Advised students on academic issues, including course selection, finding an area of study, and academic and personal struggles. Suggested and helped form a conflict resolution committee for fellow staff members. Provided information to 1,200 students through e-mail, web, and interpersonal communication. Live-in, 20-hour-per-week position while a full-time student.
Developed weekly lesson plans to help underachieving readers gain literacy skills. Monitored and advised 14 tutors to improve my site's performance and ensure that both our students and tutors had a valuable experience. Helped execute monthly training sessions organized by the program's directors.
