I have just one goal in my career: I do not want to go to work. I do not want to clock in & out every day. I do not want to yearn for my next vacation, aching for the chance to get away from work for a week. I do not want to wish that every Monday was in fact Friday. That is not for me.
I have just one goal in my career: I want to do what I love. I want to enjoy every minute of my job, if I could even call it a "job." I want to take vacations for fun, not just to get away from "work." I want to be excited to get up every Monday because I get to go out & do what I love. That is for me.
At the Northwest Film Center, I assist the Marketing Manager with various marketing duties, centered around social media and digital marketing. I help manage the Twitter and Facebook feeds, monitor and analyze website and link analytics, assist with website updates, create graphics and other digital media, design and send out the weekly newsletter, and more. Additionally, I assist with the marketing surrounding the 33rd Portland International Film Festival.
While at Forkfly, I was in charge of managing and expanding the company's social media presence across. This was accomplished primarily via Twitter and Facebook, but I utilized a wide variety of other social networks and online tools as well. My primary responsibilities included the daily management of the company's extensive online presence, communication with users and potentiel clients, creating social media messaging, growing our following/fan base through genuine interaction, and much more. In addition to managing Forkfly's own internal feeds, I was also responsible for consulting clients on social media best practices as well as assisting in the management of their online presence through social media.
My responsibilities at The Whitworthian, the student newspaper for Whitworth University, included contacting potential clients, working with current clients to place ads in the paper, assisting in the creation and editing of ad copy, billing invoices, ensuring quality customer service, and more. During my time at The Whitworthian, I met my sales quota in half of the allotted timeframe and proceeded to increase advertising revenue to over 175% of the original target. This allowed the paper to print larger issues featuring color printing, as well as improve content and other various aspects of the paper. Finally, before I graduated from Whitworth and moved on from my position, I created an advertising sales guide for future advertising managers to reference, with the intent of maintaining the success I helped build for years to come.
I completed a number of business & marketing related projects during my college career including, but not limited to:
- Conducting a consumer behavior audit on a local bicycle shop
- Creating an integrated marketing plan for a Mexican grocer
- Conducting a small marketing research project on the effectiveness of web advertising
- Creating a marketing plan for an aerospace museum in Spokane, WA.
- Additional research papers and projects in the areas of business, marketing and economics
