On the topic of standing out in a crowded blogosphere:
As David Spinks has already pointed out, a lot of job-seeking bloggers are blogging primarily for that purpose -- to have something unique to show potential employers. As a result, bloggers suppress their own personal voice and writing style to maintain a professional, presentable blog. This is sort of a self-defeating approach. Writing with style and letting your true personality shine through is the best way to stand out.
