Crystal Suazo, CPA, is a partner at VACO Raleigh, LLC, where she is part of the core management team that oversees the firm’s financial consultant relationships, as well as the organization’s day-to-day business operations.
Crystal earned her Bachelor of Science degree(Cum Laude) with a major in accounting and minor in trust management from Campbell University. She began her career working in the manufacturing industry focusing on cost accounting and inventory control. She joined public accounting in 1999 and worked for a local firm handling tax, trust and estate compliance, and business development. Prior to joining VACO, Crystal served as CPA of another local firm where she had a cross-functional position of auditor for nonprofit clients as well as tax compliance and financial planning issues.
Crystal is an active volunteer for several professional and charitable organizations in the Triangle. Her professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA) where she has served as a cabinet member and social chair of the Young CPA Cabinet. Currently Crystal serves as the chair of the Triangle Family Services annual fundraising event. She took a significant leadership role in coordinating fundraising events for PLM Families Together of Wake County from 2007-2009, an organization which provides housing and support to homeless families. Crystal has assisted the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ fundraising programs and received the Outstanding Service Award from the organization for her efforts. She was recently recognized as one of the Triangle’s top 25 businesswomen in 2008 with Triangle Business Journal’s prestigious Women in Business Award for her exemplary leadership skills in the mentoring category. In 2010 Crystal began to serve with the Women’s Leadership Council of the Triangle United Way.
