Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO. had a program where its writers' would go outdoors, spend time taking walks, going to the zoo, doing different things that helped ease any writer's block or rut sticks. It proved invaluable in that writers because more prolific because they weren't confined to their desks. Many celebrity writers have created their best work on napkins in a restaurant. I wrote a poem published several times during a Christmas party between the meal and dessert; two others came while riding horseback. I always carry pen and paper with me. Working out is also great, as mentioned above. Alex Haley often washed his hands when stuck because it seemed to release his mind and open thought channels. As for a job rut, do the same things... it helps free your mind and release any stress helping you pinpoint those hidden ideas or purpose you want to achieve.

"What other business schools work with you?" will be an important question. There are a few people with budget and ability to contract services in a business school - but sometimes these are not the most visible, big name professors.

If you're trying to sell leads (which I think you are), use highest level connection you can get to; purchase someone's 'black book' just like one in institutional sales would on wall street. Go for the big enrollment management companies that each have 50 schools vs. just one school. Then you can close a bunch in one swap. Don't ever email and ask for a call or ask them to review something. Tell them "you are traveling adn will be in their area this month and are looking for the best date to come by". Tell them you "think you met them" at CCA 2 years ago and you hope they remember you (build immediate connection - also show you know your industry by being at the most important conference). Shop each of the school's admissions depts. before you call so you can speak intelligently about them. Good luck ( ; It's insane out there right now. I would stay away from the for profits until the regulatory 'junk' gets squared away.

Cameron Plommer As a blogger do you feel like your best content is being wasted by sitting in your achieves? Are you producing content that will be useful forever (evergreen content), but it's not accessible to an eager audience? I feel this way and wrote about it at Maren Kate's blog Escaping The 9 To 5: http://ow.ly/23sdT. I argue that ebooks and other informational products are a great way to create products from content you already have on your blog. Love to hear your thoughts!

Andrew Hill: Great blog post, I'm just crazy though and am going for it. It is those statistics that make it fun. No (calculated) risk, no reward.
