I'm a writer, teacher, and speaker from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My writing has been featured in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and selected by Wordpress for "Freshly Pressed," a daily nod that picks the top few blogs from hundreds of thousands. One article--Don't Forget The Toilet Paper: A Memoir--landed me a spot in the top 100 Blogs Of The Day in September 2010.
I've worked as editor and head writer of Infinity Broadcasting's Pittsburgh E Resource during which time I began writing a regular column called eduClaytion. Most of my current stuff appears on a blog of the same name.
Most days you'll find me doing my best Dead Poets Society impersonation at a couple of local colleges where I teach history and political courses. My RateMyProfessors.Com ranking is one of the highest in the country for profs with over 25 ratings. That mark includes a perfect 5.0 for clarity, a characteristic needed to communicate clearly to a diverse audience.
I'm passionate about promoting good writers and thinkers while impacting students of all ages. My team is launching 3 new sites by Spring 2011, so we're on the lookout for great teaching ideas regarding pop culture, strong nonfiction writers, and people with a passion for history.
I teach U.S. History, Western Civ, 20th Century World, Political Science, American Government & Constitution, and whatever else comes my way.
I teach on site in Pittsburgh. Courses may include research and general history.
