Christina Brown Anyone know where I can get a free copy of Adobe Photoshop, Flash, and Dreamweaver? Torrent.com? I'm broke. :(

Kevin Zurawel: Adobe demos are good for 30 days. If you are (or recently were) a student, you can get CS4 Web Premium for ~$250, or Flex Builder for free.

TOP IDEA: Cameron Plommer Remember when you were in college and you wanted to "change the world?" I did, but soon realized that I can do very little with only 23 years of living. It's a dangerous attitude to come out of college wanting to change the world. In college everything is simplified when you get out you then realize you don't know shit about how the world actually works. And that is the key to changing things: first you need to know how it works. Then you can work on solutions. Thoughts? Am I wrong?

Hi Cameron,

I know this is an overdue reply, but I know exactly what you are going through here. You nailed it with this post: the operative word is HOW? How am I going to do it? You are on the right track though; most get out of college and stop asking how to do things, how to change things, how to make things better, how to live better? That is the most important step!

Many people don't take that first step to recognize how things can be improved. Essentially, they give up. "This is the way it is.. nothing can be done about it."

When you ask "How?" though, you are taking that first step.. and it is amazing how just taking a step builds into more steps, and this momentum that begins to form, almost without effort, helps you and others around you accomplish amazing things!

Keep asking the question "How?", you will be much better for it!

All the best,
Aaron

Ryan Paugh Guess what happened! We got a cease & desist order from a company/blogger claiming to own the words Rock Your Career. Maybe they're right, maybe not. Before our next video on Facebook (http://bit.ly/cWtoHb) we're changing the name to avoid any messiness that takes focus away from the Community. The question is, what will the new name be? Leave ideas & help keep the formerly-know-as Rock Your Career series alive! New video + new branding on Monday.

Danielle Bullen Hey Gen Y ladies, what are the top 3 questions about life and business that you's like to see addressed as topics in a magazine? TOP IDEA: Christina Brown I'm back and better than ever. Busy week this week. I anxiously waiting for an email from Apple Retail (I applied earlier this month and went to a hiring event last week). I am busy working on a project with my intern friend. I have furniture "window shopping" with a friend at Ikea tomorrow, plus I haven't planned my Thursday since I'm off that day. Plus I have to contact Victoria's Secret for a possible interview and I am all calm. WoW. :)

Penelope Trunk I am starting to feel like the slash job thing should focus on one career that is for money, and one career that is for self-exploration -- to figure out the next way to make money. I mean, no one is gonna do the same thing for 50 years. So, I am wondering if you guys think of a second career as exploratory or you think you need to make money from everything?

There is an old saying, "Jack of all trades, master of none." I have challenged it and have come out very happy as a young professional. I can do whatever I want and be confident in my success.

Not for everybody, but the smorgasbord works!

Of course the opportunity to learn may change my mind on a case to case basis. TOP IDEA: Ciara this is not a top idea or anything, I was just wondering if anyone else had ever had people in their lives come onto their blogs and post negative and degrading comments about them? I have someone posting nasty comments and my blog and it's forced me to make my comments be reviewed first. This is the second time something like this has happened to me. I'm getting tired of it frankly. The best part, is I live with one of them. Any suggestions? I'd love to make my blog unviewable by them but can't

I had a really bad room-mate experience in college and I was told by my cousin to document every incident between my room-mate and me in detail. Those notes came in handy later when I filed complaints against her with the dorm authorities. For an apartment lease why don't you try to discuss breaking out of the lease with the apartment owners? You might have to pay some penalty, but your safety and reputation is really worth a lot more than the penalty to break a lease. If you can talk to a lawyer, do so and let your room-mates know that you are consulting with them. Intimidating using legal channels really works in many cases. Good luck!

I believe that they googled me and that's how they found me. Maybe from my linked-in account. Hey, at least I'm find-able :) (I have fixed it so no one can comment without my approval).

Tania, I have been documenting everything. I even wrote a letter and turned it into the apt. office. They can't do anything for me, but at least it's on file if something worse happens. My lease is up in October, so I'm just gonna wait it out. As of today (5/24) they are pretty much leaving me alone.... although I have a new issue with one of the girls who can't manage to pay rent on time.

I'm definately got some good material for later posts :)
