Commitment is scary in all aspects of life, but especially when it comes to picking a career path after college. All of our previous experiences have been measured in semesters, quarters, and internships that all had a finite end. Now that we have entered the real world the end is nowhere in sight and many of us are left fearing a life modeled after Office Space.
As we grow up we start to put limits on what we believe to be realistic. We stop asking why not and start asking why. The boundaries we place on ourselves in terms of our mental and physical capabilities hold us back in situations in which we would otherwise flourish. As a recent grad there are pressures and expectations that cloud this intuition.
