About Me

Hello! I'm Chris, a student of Economics and aspiring entrepreneur living in South Florida. I'm intrigued by the power of business, design and technology to change the way people live through both social and economic value creation.

My professional experience centers around strategic initiatives and capacity building at a number of non-profit organizations. This summer, I'm looking to transfer this experience to add value at a DC based tech company in a Business Development, Marketing or research role.

I will graduate in August 2011 and will begin working full-time as a management consultant in mid-September within the Organizational Strategy division of Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, DC.

I am looking for an internship which I can work on remotely throughout the summer, or a short-term project going from mid-August through mid-September.

Work History

  • New Sector Alliance
  • Summer Consultant
  • June 2010 to August 2010
  • I was competitively selected as one of 32 to participate in a 12 week social sector strategy consulting program in Boston, MA.

I led four projects at my client, BBB4Kidz, a youth focused health social enterprise. Working in direct communication with the Executive Director, my work culminated in the development of a 12-month strategic plan which identified key weaknesses and opportunities towards achieving strategic growth.

Two of my projects are listed below:

    • Project 1 was to contribute to the diversification of the funding model through the solicitation of federal and state level funding streams*: developed & submitted organization’s first ever federal funding proposal (U.S. Dept. of Education/Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign).

    • Project 2 was to design a strategy to address the organization's long-term marketing & branding challenges. Market analysis and creative concept work resulted in a comprehensive branding solution featuring a new organizational image.

  • AmeriCorps/Urban Youth Impact
  • Strategy Intern
  • January 2010 to May 2010
  • Applied business skill set to assist in scale up of Impact Coffee Co., a UYI student run social enterprise which sells organic fair-trade Ethiopian coffee beans, and provides a unique professional development opportunity for low-income youth.

    • I facilitated the creation of a new training program for student employees and developed a comprehensive digital strategy to elevate the Impact Coffee brand.

  • Enterprise Development Corp. of South FL (EDC)
  • Special Projects Intern
  • May 2009 to September 2009
  • Interned with a public/private startup incubator providing business services to emerging life science and technology companies throughout South Florida.

My work primarily focused on two projects:

    • Worked with EDC’s angel investment partner, New World Angels, to conduct initial pre-screen evaluation on business plans for prospective seed capital investment recipients.

    • Conducted research on best practice models and aided in developing a strategy for the establishment of the first publicly funded FL based science and technology angel investment fund.

Education

  • Florida Atlantic University
  • Bachelor of Science, Economics
  • 2007 - 2011
  • In addition to a wide breath of coursework in the liberal arts and social sciences, I've also completed intro level coursework in Business: Accounting, Finance, Management, and Information Systems.
