I am looking for an amazing team and my next adventure.
I have an engineer's mind, a developer's background, and 13 years of experience juggling multiple hats in startup and advance development organizations as both a senior manager and individual contributor. I recently returned from a six year, round the world, sailing adventure where I used various APIs and RSS/JSON feeds to develop an integrated Blog/Photo/Mapping solution via email for our sailing blog.
For the past six months I have been targeting my exploration at the large gap that exists between technologists and "mainstream users" with respect to social media tools, APIs and methods. I'm leveraging my re-integration (as a technology castaway) to document the issues that may affect those who are trying to cross the gap. I've also been engineering various solutions to help companies engage online that are targeted to their unique situation of products and customers.
I am passionate about software, technology and travel and I'm looking for my next challenge. I am looking to develop an integrated solution for a team with customers that I can be passionate about.
I am a self-motivated, enthusiastic and customer oriented product manager/design engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment that encourages creativity and use of problem solving, design analysis, and interpersonal skills. I enjoy helping people simplify their lives using technology and software. The gap between technologists and main stream users has widened and I would like to help close that gap.
- Planned, outfitted and completed a six year, 33,000 mile sailing adventure (6000 hours at sea) including a 24-day non-stop passage across the South Pacific (svbillabong.blogspot.com).
- Utilized social media to increase effectiveness and efficiency as both a consumer and publisher using limited resources (communication and unique data requirements) see bit.ly/sailsocial.
- Envisioned and developed multiple websites, blogs and utilities to provide resources and details to help educate fellow sailors/adventurers.
----- BlurbBits (blurbbits.blogspot.com) is a set of utilities that allows users to blog, map, and share photos using email. BlurbBits combines industry leading functionality and APIs (Blogger, Google Maps, Picasa, Flickr, YouTube, etc) to provide a flexible environment with full-featured results through low bandwidth communication platforms (adaptable to mobile devices).
----- Creative-cruising.com documents the technical details of my sailing experience.
- Led the successful development of an integrated electro-mechanical design automation suite, TransDesign, which was adopted by Ford Motor Company, Jaguar, Aston Martin and their respective OEM suppliers as their principal automotive electrical systems design tool.
- Team lead and key developer of TransAct (physical schematic generation), which synthesizes correct by construction physical schematics using logical schematics and a physical wiring topology, including adaptive physical change management. Led project from conception through innovation, design, engineering, and QA to deliver production software ahead of schedule, exceeding design goals and customer expectations.
- Primary developer of TransHarness, a wire harness design tool that automatically generates connector face views and filters option/variants, to facilitate multi-level physical harness design from a harness schematic and physical wiring topology.
- Managed consulting services, customer support, and engineering services, including quality assurance, documentation, and system administration with limited resources.
- Utilized Viewscript and custom APIs to create a flexible, rapid prototype environment for solution architects. Resulting solutions often became core product features and functionality.
- Principal architect of TransAct. Collaborated face-to-face with key customers and early TransDesign adopters to understand key usage models and translate requirements into actionable specifications. TransAct automates the time consuming and error prone process of manually generating physical schematics for design reviews, simulation, and service manuals.
Formed during the merger of Viewlogic and Synopsys (Spinout of the Advanced Development Group)
- Prioritized software development to deliver XTK, the industry leading high-speed signal integrity and crosstalk analysis software, with a small team of four engineers. XTK was adopted as the primary signal integrity analysis tool at Intel, HP, Compact, Digital, Dell, EMC and Sun Micro.
- Principal developer responsible for XTK. Developed key driver algorithms for non-linear rise time controlled devices including support for simultaneous switching output (SSO) current effects.
- Collaborated with core Intel technologists to deliver enhanced XTK algorithms and functionality to support the next generation Merced Multi-Chip Module (MCM) microprocessors in three months. Intel recommended XTK as the signal integrity and SSO noise analysis suite for OEMs developing systems incorporating the Merced microprocessor.
Viewlogic acquired Quad Design (1993)
- Automated the process of extracting SPICE results into XTK driver models, dramatically increasing end user acceptance by allowing enhanced device models to be developed in-house.
- Provided in-depth technical support and developed/delivered training classes to customers and application engineers using Quad Design’s timing, signal integrity, and crosstalk analysis software.
- Identified key issues and tracked bug/enhancement requests through engineering development and tested resulting products for quality assurance/acceptance.
