What do you guys think about the effectiveness of buying your own domain name? I shelled out the dough but I've seen a lot of SUPER successful blogs with url's with blogspot or wordpress in the ink. Thoughts?

Moving from wordpress to hosting my own wordpress blog forced me to switch to using google analytics rather than the default wordpress analytics ...MoreMoving from wordpress to hosting my own wordpress blog forced me to switch to using google analytics rather than the default wordpress analytics and gave me more options to customize the theme etc.
Switching to google analytics was really useful, because then I knew how much time people were spending on my site on average and what the bounce rate was. I also got better feedback about what search queries and websites were driving traffic. Simple changes really improved my bounce rate, too.
