Ryan Paugh Do you ever drink with your boss or business partners? I drank Scotch with Penelope once when we used to work out of Ryan Healy and my crappy apartment. It was hilarious. I don't think that everyone out there could get away with the kind of craziness that we got away with because my one business partner is my fraternity brother and the other one is ... well ... Penelope. So how do you handle booze around people who you want to trust you?

Sean Masters: I should add that this was true of my previous employer, and the organization before that as well!

It was always nice to see people loosen up. And besides that, who knows you better than yourself, in how much you can handle!

Rebecca Thorman To smoke or not to smoke? For me, never. Smoking has been banished and ostracized from nearly every workplace in America. This is a funny article about how smoking affects productivity (http://bit.ly/8YhEFa). "I'm not paying you to smoke. I'm paying you to work," says one manager, who figured each break took about 15 min, including the time to get down to the sidewalk from the company's 11th-floor office in the elevator. Who inhales? Do others at your office take smoke breaks?

This was actually addressed in a company meeting yesterday that smokers are to take no more than 2 smoke breaks during a work day.

I agree that smoking is not a smart thing to do but also agree w/ @paulmacp that there are plenty of other unhealthy choices that we can all be disgusted with that can affect our productivity.

It would be like me calling all of the obese people at my job morons and unintelligent. Why do they continue to stuff their face if their Dr tells them it's going to kill them? If we all did what we were supposed to do to be healthy then I'm sure the world would be a happier place...but we'll have to stick to what we have right now and hopefully work on improving our health as time goes on.

@ty - I understand your hurt and disgust. My best friends Mother (who was also a Mother to me) died at a young age from cancer that was attributed to smoking...but I still don't judge people because of that.

From a work perspective, my staff is allowed 1 hour for lunch and 2 fifteen minute breaks. I don't care what any of them do on their breaks and sometimes have to push them out of their seat to walk around so that they can get some movement into their body.

If I am engrossed in what I am doing I won't move my butt from where I am sitting. If I get up or go out for lunch...or a smoke..I definitely lose a little concentration so I usually work through my breaks and get up when I have completed my project. So when I come back to my desk I am ready to start on something new.

Cassie Viau After graduating from undergrad, I also had to move back home. I'm actually living in my husband's parents' home while he attends grad school. We went in knowing it would be a temp. 2 year thing, and that has made it easier to deal with. It has also allowed us to save enough money to pay for a wedding and a house down payment, so we're grateful. (But still beyond ready for our own place!)

Cassie Viau So far, I've jumped from publishing, to banking, to marketing. And I'm only 23. It's been interesting, to say the least.
